Description This goddess pendant is made with carnelian agate, pearl and onyx. The orange color of carnelian is created by the inclusion of iron in chalcedony. Onyx’s name comes from the Greek word meaning nail of a finger or claw. Legend says that one day while Venus was sleeping Eros/Cupid cut her fingernails and left the clippings scattered on the ground. Because no part of a heavenly body can die, the gods turned them into stone, which later became known as onyx. The calla lily was associated with the winter solstice by the ancient Romans. The lilies were forced to bloom indoors during the darkest time of year to celebrate the preservation of the light. The Goddess is the symbol of the innermost self. Throughout history the Goddess was seen as the Virgin, mother, warrior, huntress, wife, artist, healer and sorcerer.
